Uncreative

I’ll be the first to admit that this ensemble is pretty uncreative and basic. An off white dress shirt probably would have added a fair bit of interest, given the gold coloring in the necktie. I didn’t have one ironed and, as today is trash day in the neighborhood, no extra time to iron one this morning.

The shirt is a TM Lewin Windsor slim fit and the necktie a Robert Talbott Seven Fold. I have not counted the folds to see if there really are seven. If you don’t know what a seven fold tie is then I suggest taking a quick look here. Since they are constructed entirely of silk with no lining, they tend to be expensive. I got this one off eBay several years ago.

Less Minimal

Basically the same idea as last Monday but instead of a plain white shirt I selected a navy and blue check. The other major difference is a gray suit instead of a navy suit. The shirt is a TM Lewin Windsor slim fit and the tie is Tommy Hilfiger.

I can’t completely claim the look. I did get the basics of the idea from what Stephen Colbert wore on March 10. There’s a good chance I would have never teamed up this shirt and tie combination with a gray suit. And Colbert still has no idea what that suit pocket is for so that evens us up a bit. That and he’s got a wardrobe department to take care of his suit and tie combos for him. I just have two dogs and they’re not much help.

Mousin’ Around

Who says cartoon character ties are against the rules? Lots of people, actually. This particular necktie doesn’t fit the mold of breaking the rules, in my opinion. I purchased it in Disney World a few years ago. I like it a lot and don’t wear it nearly enough. The shirt is a Hawes and Curtis St. James slim fit. Pocket square is from Robert Talbott.
